Ibuprofen.. my savior !

Until I had 4 of these tonight I felt as if I was going to die!!! wohooo for Ibuprofen!

FOUR???? All at once????? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
You should take them only as the instructions say -- REALLY!! They are magical, I know, but they WILL cause gastrointestinal bleeding and liver damage if you take too many in too short a time. REALLY!! I used to work for the company that first made them for over-the-counter use and I know what I'm talking about. SERIOUSLY!!

You're young and can get away with a little bit of over-doing it, but not too much. The last thing you need is GI bleeding -- or a dicey liver!

Follow the instructions. Make SURE you drink a big glass of water when you take them. DON'T drink alcohol or take aspirin when you're taking them! Both of those things will made them more likely to cause damage.

They're fine if you follow the instructions........((((((becarefulhugs))))))

my neighbors who happen to work in the medical field recommended the 4 , and I know about the bleeding thats why I was a little freaked out because I was on Naproxen so I was like oh god my gut is gona bleed but those 4 and those 4 alone did it and believe me the water kept flowing! oo you've been all over the place! no wonder you know so much!!

OK -- For the first dose, 4 is pretty much what you'd get if you were PRESCRIBED ibuprofen -- like 800mg -- they're 200mg tablets or caplets, right? (dosages for prescriptions are higher than over-the-counter) -- I just didn't want you to keep taking it that way-- REALLY. If you're going to take it for a few days or a week or two (or longer; some people take it for a long time) then the directions are good to follow.
naproxen -- gah - that'll rip up your stomach faster than ibuprofen. Good not to mix them!

I workded for that company for 24 years......ha....too long!!
Long enough to have read a lot of the clinical data and the lawsuit info......

I had to be on Naproxen for my lung thing and the other day I felt a tightness so I took some then shortly after I came down with this .. not cool.. these things are scary! but the iburprofen did the trick I don't need anymore.. don't want anymore!! I had no idea it was good for fever stuff and the like they're good to have around I guess when you really need them, I needed em yesterday for sure I Wanted to be shot! it was that bad and yeah they were 200mg my naproxen is 500! sigh. wow 24 years they must have treated you good!

Ibuprofen works primarily to reduce inflammation; it also knocks down fevers. Aspirin is great for fevers but not as effective at reducing elimination. That's one reason that ibuprofen is so good-- plus it's not AS BAD on stomachs as aspirin is. Aspirin is much worse.

I'm glad it helped! It really is a wondrous thing......yes-- good to keep some around, for sure!

I would still be working there, except they closed our manufacturing site and I was left with no job. *sobs* -- no retirement, no nothing! I was too young. But it was a good run while it lasted!

long term usage can lead to heart attack or strokes! I'm drinking lots of milk too, urgh not sure if it's the meds but I have breakouts now grr dosn't seem serious though and I've never been allergic to aspirin or any meds before, guess you get that from sleeping in bed all day... urgh that sucks no retirement no nothing after 24 years!

and they say stress causes allot of these things, I have too much of this for someone my age.. what ever happened to enjoying your youth?

In this day and age, enjoying your youth is damn near impossible, especially now that everything is so damn expensive! I LOVE me some Ibuprofen!! I had some serious back problems and Ibuprofen was the only thing that got me through the pain and stiffness. I had prescriptions for 800mg so when I take over the counter meds, I always take 4. The recommended 2 never works. I also take the pills with bread or a huge glass of milk so that it doesn't jack up my stomach. If I take Ibprofen I don't take anything else though. I have a huge fear of overdosing. I am a pill person and I am quick to pop a pill if I am in pain. I need to be more careful though because I don't really pay much attention to the prescriptions that doctor's prescribe. I should be doing research on them because some of the stuff has some serious side effects!

Some of the side effects are worse then the original problem that your trying to cure!! What's up with that?
